Abby Kanakry – Technical Director, Unified Volleyball

Abby Kanakry serves as the Technical Director at Unified Volleyball, where she leads the club’s technical curriculum, oversees skill development during Monday training sessions, and supports coaches in delivering consistent, high-quality instruction across every team in the program. Her focus on technical excellence, athlete development, and coach education helps ensure that Unified athletes receive a cohesive training experience designed to maximize long-term growth and performance.

In addition to her role at Unified, Abby currently serves as an Assistant Coach at Oakland University, bringing valuable collegiate coaching experience and a deep commitment to developing volleyball talent at both the club and collegiate levels.

A Grosse Pointe North High School alumna, Abby was a four-year varsity standout and emerged as one of Michigan’s top hitters during her senior season. She continued her playing career at Northern Kentucky University, where she became one of the most accomplished athletes in program history. During her five seasons with the Norse, Abby earned multiple First Team All-Horizon League honors, set the school record for block assists, and finished her final season with nearly 400 kills. Following her collegiate career, she competed professionally with Alianza Lima in Peru.

Abby brings an exceptional combination of high-level playing experience, technical expertise, leadership, and passion for athlete development. Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence make her an invaluable resource for Unified coaches and athletes. Through her leadership, Unified continues to strengthen its training standards and provide players with the tools needed to reach their highest potential.
