Unified Volleyball East Team Levels

East National Teams (14-18u)

Our highest level of competition, National Teams are designed for advanced athletes who are serious about competing at the top level of club volleyball. These teams train at a high intensity and compete in the most competitive events, primarily within driving distance, including multi-day tournaments, National Qualifiers, and a season-ending National Championship (AAU and/or USAV). Depending on team competitiveness, National teams will compete across Club divisions as well as Premier and Open divisions when appropriate.

The National season officially runs from December through June, with optional offseason training opportunities offered from August through November when athlete availability allows. Once the season begins, athletes are expected to be fully committed to their team. Consistent attendance at practices and all scheduled tournaments is essential, as team continuity and preparation directly impact performance at this level. We understand that many athletes are multi-sport competitors and work to support that when possible, while also providing additional opportunities for athletes to stay on track with their development when conflicts arise.

Training at the National level extends beyond standard team practices. In addition to regular team sessions, athletes are expected to participate in positional training as a third training opportunity during weeks without tournaments. For the 2027 season, positional training is now included in club fees and will be considered part of the expectation and commitment for National team athletes. This added focus allows for more detailed, position-specific development and helps athletes continue refining their skills throughout the season. National teams will also participate in scrimmage opportunities throughout the year, including competition against other clubs, intra-club matchups, and coach-led play, all designed to increase game reps and better prepare athletes for tournament competition.

This level is best suited for athletes who are ready to train with intention, compete consistently against high-level competition, and invest in their long-term growth within the sport, including those with aspirations to play at the collegiate level.

Season Length: 5-7 months

Travel: Highest travel commitment; multiple multi-day events

Practice: 5+ hours/week + Position Training

Apparel Package: 3 jerseys, 2 spandex and a warm up.

East National Select Teams (13-18u)

National Select Teams offer a high-level competitive experience with a more balanced schedule than National teams. These teams train with purpose and compete in slightly less demanding tournaments overall, while still facing strong regional competition. Schedules include a mix of local events along with three travel tournaments to locations such as Ohio and Grand Rapids, giving athletes the opportunity to compete outside their immediate area without the full travel load of a National schedule. Teams will primarily compete in Classic, Girls, or Aspire divisions, with the ability to move into Club divisions as appropriate based on team performance.

The National Select season runs from December through June. Athletes are expected to be committed to their team, with consistent attendance at practices and all scheduled tournaments playing an important role in both individual and team development. This level still supports multi-sport athletes, but it requires clear communication and accountability when conflicts arise.

Training at this level is focused on building consistency, improving decision-making, and continuing to develop position-specific skills. In addition to regular team practices, athletes are encouraged to take advantage of positional training opportunities to continue progressing throughout the season.

This level is ideal for athletes who are ready to compete at a high level, continue developing their game, and be part of a structured, competitive environment with a slightly more manageable schedule than a National team.

Season Length: 5-6 months

Travel: 2-3 travel tournaments + high-level local competition

Practice: 4+ hours/week

Apparel Package: 2 jerseys, 2 spandex and a warm up

Hudl: $100 / athlete

East State Teams (9-17u)

State Teams are designed for athletes who want a competitive club experience while continuing to build their skills in a structured, primarily local setting. These teams focus on consistent development, giving athletes the opportunity to gain game experience while improving fundamentals, confidence, and overall understanding of the game.

The State season runs from January through May. Teams compete in a local schedule that includes four two-day tournaments, two one-day events, and the MJVBA State Championships in Grand Rapids, providing a strong mix of competition without extensive travel.

Athletes at this level are expected to be committed to their team, with regular attendance at practices and tournaments playing an important role in both individual and team growth. This level is a great fit for athletes who are continuing to develop, as well as multi-sport athletes looking for a competitive volleyball experience that balances with other commitments.

Training at the State level emphasizes consistency, decision-making, and building confidence in game situations. The goal is to help athletes take the next step in their development while preparing them for higher levels of competition in the future.

Season Length: 5 months

Travel: Mostly local, with one in-state travel weekend

Practice: 4 hours/week

Apparel Package: 2 jerseys, 1 spandex and a warm up

Local Teams (8-16u)

Local Teams are designed for athletes looking for a flexible, development-focused club experience with minimal travel and a shorter time commitment. This level is a great option for athletes who are newer to club volleyball or balancing multiple activities, while still wanting structured training and competitive play.

The Local program is divided into two separate 3-month seasons, giving families the option to participate in one session or both depending on their schedule and goals. This format allows athletes to stay involved in volleyball without committing to a full-length season.

Teams will practice consistently and compete in local one-day tournaments, with one two-day tournament included to give athletes exposure to a slightly higher level of competition. The focus at this level is on building fundamentals, improving confidence, and helping athletes become more comfortable in game situations.

Local Teams provide a strong foundation for growth and are a great starting point for athletes who may be interested in pursuing higher levels of club volleyball in the future.

Season Length: Two 3-month sessions (option to play one or both)

WHY UNIFIED EAST?

Our Coaching Staff

Our coaches bring a mix of playing and coaching experience and are deeply invested in athlete development. For the 2027 season, all East coaches will participate in a required Unified East Coaching Clinic and have mentor coaches working alongside each team throughout the season. Our staff also continues to grow through annual coaching clinics across the state, and many of our coaches are actively coaching at the middle school and high school levels.

Position Training

We offer over 20 hours of position-specific training throughout the season, allowing athletes to get high-repetition, focused work at their position. These sessions are designed to accelerate development and give athletes the opportunity to refine the details that make a difference. Position training is included in club fees for National teams and available to all other athletes at a low additional cost.

Organization & Communication

Families can expect structured communication and full transparency throughout the season. We prioritize frequent updates, clear expectations, and consistent communication so families always feel informed and supported. We value your time and commitment and work hard to keep everything organized.

Travel Planning & Hotel Blocks

Hotel blocks for travel events are secured before the season begins and shared in advance with clear booking instructions and deadlines, making the process simple and stress-free for families.

LeagueApps Platform & Organization

All registration, payments, schedules, and communication are managed through LeagueApps, giving families one easy-to-use, centralized platform with real-time updates and calendar syncing to stay organized throughout the season.

Mental Performance Training

In-person and online workshops are offered throughout the season where athletes are trained in confidence, accountability, and mental toughness, preparing them for high-pressure moments and long-term success.

Year-Round Training Opportunities

Beyond the season, we offer consistent opportunities to improve, including small group training, camps, clinics, leagues, and dedicated speed and agility training. Athletes who want more reps and a competitive edge have access to them year-round.

Recruiting Support & Exposure

We actively support athletes in the recruiting process through guidance, exposure opportunities, and connections. We strategically place our teams in tournaments and divisions that are both competitive and provide strong exposure, helping athletes be seen at the right level. Our goal is to help athletes continue their careers at the next level.

A Program on the Rise

We are a newer club, which means energy, hunger, and momentum. We embrace being the underdog and use it as fuel to prove ourselves every day. Year one built the foundation, and year two is about raising the standard and competing at a higher level.
